website. But first you must learn what to look for and how
to interpret the information you glean from your research.

Web hosting companies sometimes have a way of making way

the number of visitors that swing by your site on a regular
basis and analyze the data carefully.
Hits to a website are often a source of confusion for a lot
of people. Hits translate into requests for information
received by your computer's server and that's it. Hits are
not all that helpful in measuring website traffic.
A small percentage of traffic can distort the whole. Take
the time and put the effort into looking at the larger
picture. Figuratively speaking, examine the situation under
a microscope.
If people spend a fair amount of time at your website then
that will show in your web traffic statistics. Find out who
is staying, for how long and what in particular holds their
interest.
Do your visitors' stay at your site long enough to look it
over thoroughly and read everything or are they there and
gone in a flash? Do you know? Brief interludes of time for
visits are not enough.
Sometimes graphics and even colors are nerve wracking. Do
you have pictures that jump all over the page? Not all
visitors will appreciate this graphics display. Or perhaps
you have keywords that are somewhat leading? Find out if
your guests are happy once they arrive at your site. If they
are not, then you have work to do.
Your marketing strategy needs to include what motivates web
searchers and what their individual habits are. People can
be fickle. Bear this in mind always.
All websites have pages from which visitors can exit the
site. If visitors leave your site on a page that is not
deemed as an exit page then something is very wrong. Why are
they in a hurry to leave and more importantly, why are they
leaving without checking out your site in its entirety?
The last page of your site might feature a contact form or
an order for. This page is often referred to as an exit page
in the online world. If visitors leave before they get to
the conclusion of their destination, uh oh, there is most
definitely a problem that needs to be addressed as soon as
possible.
Your keywords and phrases should also bring in new business,
not discourage it. If your keywords are not targeted to the
right audience you will only serve to frustrate and annoy
searchers, which you do not want to do!
If web searchers easily find your site and know your name
and/or company name by heart then congratulations- you are
doing something right!
